Drama, Fun, Tension on Airtel TV as ‘The Voice Nigeria’ Enters Episode 6

Posted on April 30, 2021

Nigerians are in for an exciting time as leading international singing competition, ‘The Voice Nigeria’ is scheduled to showcase an all-new episode on Airtel TV this coming weekend.

Airtel says it is delighted to provide a credible platform to support young Nigerian talents, whilst contributing to the nation’s creative industry.

The previous episode, which aired last weekend stirred a frenzy among fans of the international singing competition as several took to social media to cheer on their favorite talents.

With seven contestants gracing the treasured stage, tensions were at an all-time high as the judges were quite finicky, combing through each performance to select those that would make it to the next level.

The first contestant, 20 year-old Oghenekpabor Okoro delivered an exhilarating rendition of Kizz Daniel’s 2017 single, ‘Sofa’, and immediately got a pick from an ecstatic Falz, momentarily followed by Waje.

Both judges contended to be his coach but he ended up picking Falz, saying sheepishly, “I’m grateful for both turns, but its Bahd Guys in the building”, a humorous reference to Falz’s signature intro on numerous mega hits from the wordsmith.

Another contestant, Blessing Ucheonye performed Toni Braxton’s 1996 hit, ‘Unbreak My Heart’, and while her performance was a little rough around the edges, she managed to pique the interest of Dare Art Alade, who promised they would work on her minor vocal flaws to prep her for superstardom.

Performing Labrinth’s ‘Jealous’, off the British singer’s eponymous EP of the same title, the third contestant, Paul Mogbolu while charismatic for the most part, did not get a turn from any of the judges.

Two other contestants also sang their hearts out but unfortunately, were not impressive enough to get picked by any of the judges.

The last performer on this episode, Naomi Mac was arguably a fan-favorite as she delivered a spine-chilling performance of Bryan Adams’ ‘Everything I Do’, a global hit from the ‘Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves’ soundtrack album.

Metaphorically, she gracefully stole the hearts of three out of four judges, including Falz, Yemi Alade and Waje.

Her charisma, vocal prowess and stage presence sent all three judges into a light-hearted tiff as they contended to be her coach, with the songstress ultimately picking Falz.

Episode 6 of the show is scheduled to air on Saturday, 1 May and will also be available on Sunday on Airtel TV by 8PM.

The new episode can also be watched on-demand from 9pm on Sunday after the live broadcast to enable fans watch at any time if they missed the live broadcast.
