Nigeria’s music scene has seen an immense amount of evolution over the years, housing different shades of genres under its umbrella of sonic excellence and eccentricity.
We love a party song that gets the dancefloor enveloped by the jaws of euphoria. But we also love a serenade of emotions; love songs that pass from one heart to another through different shades of sounds.
Mojisan, the dynamic female producer, has mastered the art of passing intense emotions to the hearts of her listeners through her skilled compositions and inventive production.
Singer Yhemie teams up with the producer for “Energy”, an uptempo love song for the dancefloor.
The production layers with some keys as its foundation before uptempo drums get introduced.
These serve as the most important parts of the beat and they carry on through the song’s 2:34 minutes.
Mojisan’s production renders it a pure Afrobeats record. At 110BPM, “Energy” is one that is designed to shakeup the dance floor. The song’s intensity switches between the chorus and the verses, with a subtle guitar playing supporting Yhemhi’s vocals.
“Energy” is an example of Mojisan’s diverse production skillset. She has the expertise to create diverse environments for her artists to shine through. On this song she goes the upbeat route, and she feels comfortable creating different levels of intensity on a record. This has a great influence on the diversity of her music style. She retains that innate ability to move the listener, either internally or externally, as the production on “Energy” almost certainly brings the listener to their feet in a euphoric dance.
Yhemhi plays a part in the song’s danceability, too. He intertwined his verses with the consistent bounce present on “Energy”, creating tension through his playful songwriting and raspy voice. He is at home on Mojisan’s production, finding and creating pockets of exciting melodies.
Yhemhi gives a good impression of himself through his performance on this song.
Mojisan’s diverse skill set makes her a joy for artists of different genres and music styles.
Her musical range, coupled with her moving production, is one of her strongest traits as a producer and composer.
The presence of Yhemhi on the record sets up a combination that brings the best out of both parties, to great effect. Yhemhi, through his performance, portrays himself as a well-rounded artist capable of creating great records with minimal fuss.
The artists make a wonderful duo.
