Fake Medical Doctor, 35, Docked For Performing Surgical Operation At Hospital

A 35-year old fake medical doctor, Afeez Adegoke, has been arrested and charged in Ogun State for illegally performing surgical operation and endangering the lives of patients. 
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Adegoke, was mistakenly employed by Goodness Clinic and Medical Centre at  Eri Antena Bus-Stop, Onibukun Ota in Ogun State as a specialist surgeon to perform surgeries on patients in the hospital.
He was said to have done some surgerical operations in the hospital until he embarked on one operation with a patient, Patrick Effiong and put his life at risk.
Thus, his conduct was reported to the Police and he was arrested and detained for interrogation.
During interrogation, he was asked to bring evidence to show he was actually a
Medical Doctor and he then confessed that he was not.
The Police found him culpable and subsequently charged before the Ota Chief Magistrate Court in Ogun for performing a hernia surgery on a patient in the State.
The prosecutor, Inspector Bola Owolabi, told the Court that the defendant committed the offences at the hospital by presenting himself as a medical doctor and operated at the Goodness Clinic and Medical Centre.
“He also performed a surgery to endanger the life of the patient, an offence which contravened the Laws of Ogun State” the prosecutor said.
He pleaded not guilty when he was arraigned.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. O. L. Oke, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with four sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and addresses verified.
The matter was adjourned till 25th May, 2023, for mention while the defendant was remanded in correctional center pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
