A female Inspector of Police, Gloria Ajanigo, attached to the Traffic Section of the Area P Command, Lagos State, has escaped death after she was pushed out of a moving tricycle and she fell down on the highway.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Jakande  Gate Bus Stop, Ipaja/Ayobo Road in Ipaja, Lagos, where the Police Inspector, Mrs. Ajanigo, was performing her traffic duties and apprehended a 19-year old tricycle rider, Sodiq Oluwapupo, for contravening the traffic law in Lagos State.

The rider, Oluwapupo, was said to have contravened the traffic law, was apprehended and was being taken to the Command for prosecution. He was said to have pleaded but the senior officer in charge refused and directed the woman Inspector to take both the rider and the tricycle to the Command for interrogation and prosecution.

When she boarded the tricycle, Oluwapupo was said to have pretended that he wanted to ride his tricycle with her to the Command as directed by the senior Police Officer in charge of duty on that day.
However, while they were going,  Oluwapupo suddenly attacked the female Police Officer, Gloria Ajanigo and pushed her out of the tricycle while on speed. She fell down, had bruises on her body and was rushed to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.

The Police later trailed Oluwapupo, arrested and detained him over the conduct, which put the life of the Police woman in danger while performing her lawful duty.

Having been found culpable, he was subsequently charged before the Ejigbo Magistrates Court for inhuman treatment and assault on the female Police Officer.
When he was arraigned, he pleaded guilty.

The prosecutor,  Inspector Simeon Njue, then asked the Court to give a short date to enable him to present the facts of the matter since he pleaded guilty to enable the Court to sentence him accordingly to serve as deterrent to others who might attempt to try such crime.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.K.Dosumu, ordered him to be remanded in custody and adjourned the matter pending when the facts will be presented as requested by the prosecutor to enable the Court to sentence him accordingly in line with the alleged offence he committed and pleaded guilty.
