A 45-year old female teacher, Dupe Ehiorobo, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly flogging a 4-year old pupil, Master King Odijie and inflicting injury on his body inside the school.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 13th May, 2024, at Access Ville School located at Ipaja area of Lagos.
According to the Police, the female teacher allegedly beat the boy with a cane and inflicted injuries on his back and laps over an undisclosed offence in the class. When the victim’s parents saw the injuries, they went to the Police and also reported the matter to the Ministry of Justice. The suspect was arrested and transferred to the Gender Section of the State Police Command for interrogation over her alleged conduct.
After interrogation, she was found culpable and the victim’s parents insisted that she should be prosecuted to serve as deterrent to other teachers who might try such in future.
She was then charged before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The charge read:

She pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since she pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that she actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. B.O. Osunsanmi, granted her bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when she will perfect her bail conditions.
