Five Workers Remanded For Allegedly Stealing Employer’s N184m Property

Five Workers in the employment of  Godrej  Nigeria Limited  located at Plot 2A , Ayodele Diya Street, Ikeja Industrial  Estate, Lagos have been arrested by the operatives of the Force Criminal Investigation Department, FCID, Alagbon Close, Ikoyi, Lagos and dragged before a Lagos Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing their employer’s properties valued at at N184 million and fled.

Police identified the defendants as Tope Oladapo, 31; Olusoji Gbadebo, 42; David Odole, 34; Irobi Desmond, 34; Chinoso Onyema,; and the alleged receiver of the stolen Properties,  Sijuola Saliu Olaniyi, 59.

Police alleged that the defendants allegedly stole synthetic hair fibre,  homecare and household insecticides products valued at the sum of N184 million and went to sell to the alleged buyer fled.

Police further alleged that following the development, the complainant petitioned the Inspector General of Police who referred the case to the Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG incharge of Force Headquarters Annex, Lagos for detailed investigation.

After investigation by ASP Okklo Jacckson and his team, the defendants were charged before the Igbosere Magistrate’s Court at the Tinubu Magistrate’s Court on a three count charge bordering on conspiracy, stealing and receiving stolen properties.

Police Counsel, ASP Cyriacus Osuji told the Court in the charge marked TA/79/2025 that the defendants committed the offence between January and May, 2025 at 2A, Ayodele Diya Street, Ikeja Industrial Estate, Lagos.

Osuji informed the court that the defendants allegedly stole the properties  valued at N184m belonging to their employer and sold them to the alleged buyer, Olaniyi and escaped before they were arrested.

He said the offences, the defendants committed were punishable under Sections 411 and 297(7) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges and Chief M.A Owunmi granted them N5 million bail each with two surties each in like sum.

Owunmi adjourned the case  and ordered that the defendants be detained at the Ikoyi correctional facility till they perfected the bail conditions
