From Dreams To Destiny

“The slothful man roasteth not that which he took in hunting: but the substance of a diligent man is precious.”
Proverbs 12:27

“The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute.”
Proverbs 12:24
Just because God has destined you for greatness does not make you lazy. When we were small, a mother took her only son to a fortune teller.
She wanted to know his future. The fortune teller said he was going to be a very rich man. He would have the world literally at his feet. He would be famous and own many houses. It’s been almost forty years now.
The young man became unruly, dropped out of school and became a nuisance. The mother pampered him and allowed him to practically ruin his life. Today, he is a nobody – broke, unemployed and unemployable.
The dream failed. The fortune teller lied.
But seriously, a dream is nothing without the capacity to go to work on it. Any dream, unassisted by hard work, brain work, smart work and the capacity to be unrelenting in its pursuit will come to nought. The reason why most people who won lottery still die poor is because you can’t sustain success if you’re lazy.
Diligence and faithfulness in attending to small things prepares one for bigger responsibilities. I met a young man who has a dream of running a big organization in the near future but presently work for somebody else. I watched him for a while. His output was poor. His boss complained. Customers complained. So one day i called him and told him he would fail at running his own organization. He wanted to know why. If he didn’t tend someone’s else business with diligence, he won’t be able to do it in his own.
We build habits when we work for others. We build skills while working for others. It is the same set of skills we transfer to our own
businesses when we work for ourselves. Exactly same. So in the final analysis, if you work for others, you’re actually working for yourself. Nothing, absolutely nothing we do is for others on the long run. Whatever we think we are doing for others are actually done for ourselves.
“Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.”
Pr 22:29
The difference between our dreams and our destiny is the quality of work we are willing to put behind our dreams. Lazy men have wishes, no dreams. Wishes are products of a fertile imagination but dreams are pathways to destiny. Any dream you are not willing to back with hard work, long work and smart work is nothing but hapless wishes.
“There is neither [biblical] encouragement nor room… for feeble desires, listless efforts, lazy attitudes; all must be Strenuous, urgent, ardent. Flamed desires, impassioned, unwearied insistence delights heaven. God would have His children incorrigibly in earnest and persistently  bold in theirefforts.”
E. M. BOUNDS
It is a shame that we often give our best time and efforts to issues that have nothing to do with our destiny. We give our best efforts to
gossip, frivolities and other people’s affairs that have little or nothing to do with us. Many are busy ‘killing time.’ I’ve got news for you; time can’t be killed; it can only be used or wasted. Those who kill time are not committing murder but suicide. It’s not time that dies but your dreams and then your destiny.
