Fast rising Fuji music artiste, Akeem Ayinde popularly known as Atagungun has said the globally recognized Afrobeats genre has been highly influenced by Fuji music.

The highly talented Ibadan, Oyo State-born Fuji act disclosed this in a chat with our correspondent.

“Afrobeats have always been highly influenced by Fuji Music. As you can see, many of today’s Afrobeats songs have a flavor of Fuji music. From the likes of Remedies, Olamide, Terry Apala, Q-Dot to Asake among many others, most of their songs are laced with Fuji vibes,” Atagungun said.

The young musician, however said, he is poised to make a name for himself with his brand of Fuji music which he dubbed, Fuji Classical. And his growing fan base is a testament to his growing popularity.

Speaking about his foray into Fuji music, Atagungun stated that he was driven by his love and passion for music and that he settled to play Fuji music because it speaks more about the philosophy of life.

Atagungun, who says Fuji maestro King Wasiu Ayinde Marshall is his mentor, said what differentiate him from other artistes is the combination of his dancing with his sonorous voice.

The Fuji act however said his journey has been like a rollercoaster as he was faced with all sorts of challenges while trying to climb the ladder of music,

“It wasn’t easy starting out. People don’t really used to give new artists the chance to exhibit their talents but one just needs to keep pushing on and not get discouraged.

“Another issue is funding, especially in renting or getting instruments. During the shows, we always have challenges with area boys who usually drag us for money and if we don’t comply with them, they most times chase us with bottles,” said Atagungun who is currently preparing to embark on a musical tour of the United Kingdom to thrill his fans with his unique style of Fuji Classical.
