Glo Foundation Supports New Mothers In Ondo State

Posted on August 27, 2025

The joy of several mothers at the Ondo State Specialist Hospital, Akure, knew no bounds as Globacom, through its social responsibility arm, Glo Foundation, paid for the delivery costs of 35 women and donated essential baby items, including boxes of diapers and other relief materials.

The gesture, which was warmly received by the beneficiaries, was part of Globacom’s broader social responsibility drive aimed at easing the financial and emotional burdens of motherhood, especially in times of economic hardship.

Speaking during the presentation, Akeem Yussuf, Retail Chief (West), who represented Globacom, said the project reflected the company’s compassion and commitment to giving back to the communities that have supported its growth. “We recognize the vital role mothers play in nurturing the future of our nation, and we believe that supporting you is, in fact, supporting generations to come”, he said.

According to him, the initiative was conceived as a staff project and funded by the company as a way of expressing care and solidarity with mothers. “Motherhood comes with its own challenges. In times of economic or environmental hardship, the challenges can become even more overwhelming. This is why we have chosen to be here — to extend a hand,” he added.

Mr. Yussuf further explained that, at Globacom, success is measured not only by revenue earned but also by the positive impact the company makes in people’s lives. He reaffirmed the company’s commitment to continuing similar outreach programmes in partnership with local communities and institutions across the country.

The management of the State Specialist Hospital, Akure, commended Globacom for the thoughtful support and restated their commitment to quality healthcare delivery.

The presentation ceremony was filled with joy as the mothers and their families shared their heartfelt appreciation of the supportive gesture. The Glo Foundation’s support not only eased the financial strain of childbirth but also reinforced the company’s commitment to uplifting people, families and communities across Nigeria.

Mrs. Ehinnowo Deborah, one of the beneficiaries, described Glo Foundation as a godsend. “It was great, I was happy through and through even with the fact that I gave birth through cesarean section”, she observed.

For Mrs. Adenuga Ronke, another beneficiary, the provision of diapers was an unexpected blessing. “I was so happy and glad. Receiving the diapers has been very helpful. My baby, Elijah, has been provided pampers and I am grateful for that,” she stated.

For Mr. Isiaka Segun, husband of one of the beneficiaries, Rasheedat, the initiative represents more than just financial aid for his family. “It is fine now ‘o wa okay gan ni, (it is very much okay) we went for the seminar and we were also given diapers, apart from the payment for delivery,” he said.

Another beneficiary, Mrs. Abdulrafiu Odunayo, couldn’t hold back her excitement, “I was so happy about the payment made to cover my delivery. The diapers have also been so useful for my baby,” she noted.

With smiles on their faces and hope in their hearts, the new mothers returned home not only with their babies but also with the assurance that corporate organizations like Globacom is willing to stand with them in their journey of nurturing the next generation.
