How Isheri Oshun DPO, SP Oluwole Ayodele Is Setting The Pace For Community Policing In Lagos

The residents of Isheri Oshun and its environs in Lagos State will not forget in a hurry the transformation, which has taken place on the protection of lives and property since the coming of the Divisional Police Officer, SP Ayodele Oluwole, by setting the pace through community policing scheme. 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the DPO, SP Oluwole, has demonstrated that with intelligence and good communication skills, members of the community will give the Police the needed support for the protection of live and property  in the  society. 

That was exactly what has played out in Isheri Oshun Police Division as the members of the community gave massive support to the Division by providing three vehicles for the  Division. 

One of the vehicles, a Toyota Sienna, was donated  by the members of PCRC Isheri Oshun Division led by Chief Ganiyu Bamidele as their own contribution to beef up security in the area. The second vehicle came from Ijegun Joint CDAs while the third vehicle was donated by the Baale of Ijedodo community under the Division. 

The donations were remarkable not only for the DPO, SP Oluwole, but the entire Police Command and the residents, who realized the importance of community policing in Nigeria.
The PCRC chairman, Chief  Bamidele described what happened as a clear case of Police and public partnership relationship, which is perfectly working in Isheri Oshun Division and would work elsewhere with cooperation of the parties as demonstrated in the area. 

Bamidele, who is also the PCRC Financial Secretary,  Area M Command, Idimu, stated while presenting the vehicle key to DPO, SP Oluwole, said that the officers at Isheri Oshun were dedicated and working hard to protect lives and property but had the challenge of operational vehicles. They then bought and handed over to them in order to encourage them. 

He described the DPO, SP Oluwole, as a core professional and hardworking senior Police officer, who is dedicated to discharging his duty in the area of security in the area. 

Bamidele noted that since SP Bamidele took over as DPO,  the area has been calm and peaceful as the Police have been living up to expectations of the community.

He reiterated the commitment of the PCRC to continue to support the Police and revealed that they had gone further by constructing seven office block at the Division because the Police were diligently performing their duties and they had to support them. 

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that before the DPO,  SP Oluwole, was moved to the Isheri Oshun Division, the area was known for various criminal activities ranging from abduction, armed robbery, under-aged prostitution, burglary and stealing, various kinds of fraud and other vices. To residents, curbing those vices appeared a herculean task and seemed almost impossible.

 But the residents testified that they can now sleep with their two eyes closed and there is relative peace in the area thanks to the efforts of SP Ayodele Oluwole and his team, saying he brought his intelligence and capacity to lead to bear by mobilizing his officers and the stakeholders in the area.

According to the residents, when SP Ayodele Oluwole resumed duty at Isheri Oshun Division, he first assessed the area and acquainted himself with the security situation there. Thereafter, he embarked on the application of intelligence and innovative community policing strategies. He employed modern community policing approach by partnering with the stakeholders comprising the traditional rulers, leaders, youths, eminent personalities in the area and built a common synergy to combat crime in the area.

Today, the community comprising, Isheri Oshun, Ijedodo, Ijegun,  Ijegamo and others under the Division are peaceful and the people are happy doing their businesses with the full protection of SP Oluwole and his officers.

The residents described SP Oluwole as super officer, who has exhibited intelligence and hard work in any position he had worked. He has worked in many departments of the Nigeria Police and places across the states before he was brought to Isheri Oshun, where the residents confirmed that he is performing excellently, branding the image of the Police positively.
