How Lagos Police Arrested Robbery Suspect Who Killed Woman, 65 & Carted Away Toyota Sienna

Operatives from the Lagos State Police Command have arrested one of the prime robbery suspects, Abubakar Iliyasu, who murdered a 65-year old woman, Mrs. Jane Okoye and robbed her of Toyota Sienna during the operation.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at the victim’s residence in the Orile Iganmu area of Lagos on Wednesday, 2nd April, 2025.
But the suspect was arrested in Ankpa, Kogi State, and the stolen Toyota Sienna linked to the crime was successfully recovered as exhibit.
This was disclosed by the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the arrest of the suspect and recovery of the vehicle.
He stated that the suspect allegedly broke into the victim’s home, attacked her and fled with her Toyota Sienna and other personal belongings.
The victim was later discovered unconscious, was rushed to an undisclosed hospital, where she was later pronounced dead by Medical Doctors.
The matter was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Yaba, where homicide detectives launched a discreet but intensive investigation and it paid off.
“Using advanced intelligence and surveillance techniques, the team traced Iliyasu to Kogi State and effected his arrest. The stolen Toyota Sienna was recovered in good condition and is now in Police custody as evidence.”
“The suspect is currently detained at the SCID, where he is assisting Police with the ongoing investigation.”
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Jimoh, has assured residents that justice will be served and reiterated the Command’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.
