When a 28-year old man, John Effiong, was employed as a domestic cleaner in Lagos State, the employer did not know he had employed someone, who will defile his two under aged children between 4 and 6.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that two weeks after the suspect, Effiong, was employed, he started sexually assaulting the victims and eventually defiled them through the anus before he was caught.
The victims revealed what happened and how they were defiled repeatedly by the suspect when their parents were not around.
The alleged sexual assault was reported to the Police and he was arrested. Later, he was charged before the Lagos State Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court at Ikeja on Tuesday for the alleged offence.
The Presiding Judge, Justice Rahman Oshodi, ordered that the cleaner, Effiong, should be kept at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre.
This followed his plea of not guilty to a two-count charge of sexual assault by penetration.
“The defendant is to be remanded at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre, where he is currently being held,” Oshodi ordered.
The defendant, who is a resident of Ogabi Street, Abule-Ijesha, Yaba, Lagos State, according to State Counsel, Bukola Okeowo, committed the alleged offence two weeks after he was employed.
“The defendant had unlawful sexual intercourse with the minors through their anus while he was working in their apartment,” Okeowo alleged.
The alleged offences contravene Section 259 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The defendant risks several years of imprisonment if he is tried and found guilty before the Court for the alleged anal penetration.
The matter was adjourned to allow for time when the trial will commence. It means that the defendant will be coming to the Court from prison custody for the trial because he was not granted bail.
