Facts have emerged how a Nigerian Police Inspector, Ya’u Yakubu, shot his colleague, Basharu Alhassan, dead after he reportedly caught him sleeping with his wife.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on Tuesday night in Warawa Local Government Area of Kano State, when Mr. Yakubu fired his gun at Mr. Alhassan during altercation between the duo over the matter.

The deceased was rushed to Wudil General Hospital by another Police officer, where he was confirmed dead and the corpse was deposited at Mortuary for autopsy report.

This was confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Command, Abdullahi Kiyawa, but dismissed the allegation of adultery, saying that the disagreement between the duo was as a result of transfer of place of work contrary to what eye witnesses said.

According to the Police spokesperson, Mr. Yakubu was enraged because late Alhassan laughed at him over a transfer out of Warawa Area to a remote location and during the mocking, he shot him and he eventually died.

Mr. Kiyawa added that the Commissioner of Police, Sama’ila Dikko, had ordered the transfer of the case to the Command Headquarters for further investigation and prosecution for culpable homicide.

The suspect risks dismissal from the Nigeria Police and will be prosecuted for murder, which attracts life imprisonment if he is tried and found guilty before the Court for the alleged offence.
