Facts have emerged on how a wanted and notorious kidnapper, Dauda Yusuf, who had been on the Police wanted list, was arrested by men of the Edo State Police Command.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Yusuf and members of his gang were said to have been terrorising Auchi, Igarra, Okpilla, Fugar, Agenebode and environs, all in Edo North Senatorial District of Edo State.

It was gathered that Yusuf and his gang allegedly kidnapped an expatriate, who heads a contracting firm rehabilitating the ever-busy Auchi-Okpella- Okenne Express roads.
The suspect and his cohorts now at large, stormed the construction site in Auchi, Edo State, abducted the foreigner and kept him in the forest where he spent six days in captivity.

Ransom negotiation was then opened with the company.
The sum of N8m was allegedly paid as ransom before the foreign worker was released.
The suspect again, allegedly mobilised his gang and kidnapped a businessman in his quarry company in Auchi Edo State.

It was gathered that Dauda was arrested at the scene of another kidnapping in Auchi with his cousin, Richard Daniel.
The suspect, Yusuf admitted that his kidnapping business began four years ago.

According to Police sources, Dauda Yusuf was two years ago arrested for alleged secret cult-related offences, charged to Court and remanded in the Correctional Centre in Benin City. He later came out of the centre a few months ago and this time embarked on another alleged kidnapping spree.

Items recovered from them included three locally made guns and live cartridges.
The Police assured that the suspects will be thoroughly investigated, charged to Court soon and prosecuted accordingly.

I have arrived at the inevitable conclusion, that crimes thrive, because the criminals and law enforcement agents are 5&6 and joint stakeholders in crime. Can you imagine a pick pocket being pursued by a mob, deliberately heading towards the nearest police station to seek asylum and protection? !
