It appears that places of worship have become soft targets following the recent attack by armed robbers in a Cherubim and Seraphim Church during service in Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that members of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church had a nasty experience after the robbers invaded the church in the early hours of the morning, robbed worshippers of their valuable items and escaped.
The incident happened at the Church premises located at Makinde Street, along Idimu Road, Ikotun area of Lagos State.
The daredevil armed robbers were said to have struck on 1st August, 2022, when the service was on and robbed some of worshippers of their mobile phones and other valuables.
Some of the victims included Tina Mogbolu, Moses Elijah and Samuel Mudasheru, who were said to have lost various types of phones to the robbers.
The matter was reported to the Police at Ikotun Division and the officers went into action. The Police eventually arrested one of the suspects, Tosin Adekanbi, 28, while others were said to be at large.
During interrogation, the suspect, Adekanbi, was said to have declined to reveal the identities of the other members. He was consequently charged before the Ejigbo Magistrates Court for conspiracy and stealing.
He pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Simeon Njue, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.K. Dosumu, granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood.
The matter was adjourned till 10th October, 2022, for mention while the defendant was remanded in the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that it was not the first church the robbers had done such a thing to because there had been reports of similar crimes by the robbers in various churches in Lagos State in recent times.
