All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Cross River State, Senator Bassey Otu has promised to embark on human capital development once he wins election and becomes the state governor in 2023.

He made the promise on Saturday when a socio-political organisation, Victory Group donated campaign materials worth N30m to governorship and National Assembly candidates of the party to energise the campaign for the 2023 general elections.

The former House of Representatives member who represented Calabar Municipality/Odukpani Federal Constituency before proceeding to serve as Senator representing Cross South Senatorial District said, “I am so happy you invested in what is going to be our common patrimony. Looking at the group in terms of combat readiness and physiology, it looks like people who were carefully selected.

“I will continue to build and strengthen our youths in human capital development, change the lives of our people and also make the state a destination.”

Senator Otu had earlier gone on a thank you tour of the 18 LGAs in the state to express appreciation for the support he received throughout the campaign during the primaries and concluded the tour at the NUJ secretariat in Calabar on Saturday where he thanked the media for the coverage he had and promised to unfold his manifesto there soon.

A breakdown of donation shows that N5m cash and campaign materials will go to the party’s governorship candidate, Senator Bassey Otu; N4.5m cash and campaign materials will go to each of the three senatorial candidates of the party.

These are: Asuquo Ekpenyong (Southern Senatorial District candidate), Eteng Williams (Central Senatorial District candidate) and Professor Ben Ayade(Cross River North Senatorial District Candidate).

The sum of N1.5 million will go to each of the eight candidates for the House of Representatives.

Speaking while handing over the cash and elections material to the party’s governorship candidate, the Director General of Victory Group, Mr. Joseph Edet, said “The the group’s cardinal objective is to help in marketing APC candidates on behalf of the party to enable all the APC members vying for elective positions win their elections.”

He said as a group they have no intention to take from the system but to add value to the system and indeed the party at large.

“This is our team and there is one vision we have which is to market the best hands in 2023 from the gubernatorial all the way down to the assembly elections.

“We have come not to take from the system but to give back because the elections is beyond us and is for the good of the people of the state,” he said.

In her earlier remarks, the Director General Cross River State Primary Health Care Development Agency Dr. Janet Ekpenyong, who is an official of Victory Group, stated that as a team they are interested in ensuring that all the APC candidates running for elect positions win their elections.
