Why I’m Contesting For Lagos State House Of Assembly – Maryam Owolabi-Bada

One of the All Progressive Congress(APC) aspirants, Mrs. Maryam Owolabi-Bada, has revealed that her intention to contest for Lagos House of Assembly, Somolu Constituency 1 come 2019 general elections was borne out of the willingness to serve her people by providing quality representation and empowering the youth and women through sports, education, and commerce if elected.
“I’m tested, trusted, competent, willing and ready to serve as the case maybe. I’m a thorough-bred politician and with my decade of experience, I’ll explore every opportunity available to ensure my people get what belongs to them in the area of qualitative health care delivery; qualitative and affordable education, youths and sports development not leaving out women empowerment,”she echoed
The Accounting graduate of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun state and staunch member of APC further said that the future of the youths and women is important and failure to invest in their future is like sitting on a gunpowder waiting to blow.
“The youths’ contribution to the economy cannot be underestimated and giving them the opportunity to achieve their dream goal will also enable them to reciprocate positively to the society that made them,” said Maryam
“I have worked for APC and want to continue to do so as the representative of people of Somolu at the Lagos State House of Assembly.
“For me, APC is my party, our party; I have given so much to the party in the past including making sure that I uphold the values of the party in order to let it wax stronger both at the local government and the state levels.
“My political value is not only known in the zone but across the Somolu local government. My major task is to take the party to the next level and as well uphold the value of the party in the state,” Maryam said.
In his own contribution, Mr. Wole Odubiyi, an APC party stalwart in Somolu Local Government Area said Maryam’s declaration represented the aspiration of the women and the people of Somolu in its entirety.
“No one in the zone can deny all her contributions as well as in the party. She’s not only a card-carrying member but also a dedicated, loyal articulate, humble and epitome of womanhood.”
Also speaking, Mr. Adeniyi Shoga, a chieftain of the party from Ward E Somolu Local Government, pledged the unalloyed support to Bada’s aspiration.
“I strongly believe that Maryam Owolabi-Bada is one individual who can effectively complement such effort in the interest of women and people of Somolu constituency I,” he said.
Meanwhile, Alhaji Moshood Osiyemi, pne of the leader of the party in Somolu said the party has not anointed any candidate for the 2019 general election, but he described Bada’s declaration as “a welcome development for the party.”
PM EXPRESS gathered that Maryam Owolabi Bada of the APC is currently the Vice-Chairman of Zone III, Somolu local government and has held many positions in different capacities in the party.
Maryam is an astute member of several socio-political groups which include the women wing of Iya Dunni, a socio-political group under the auspices of former Lagos State Governor, Alhaji Lateef Kayode Jakande. Itesiwaju Somolu/Bariga, Social Sisters, National Committee of Friends among others.
She has been described as a community and party mobilizer per excellence who would put the people’s interest first.
