Keep-Fit-Lagos 3rd Edition: Large Turnout At Onikan Excites Organisers

Third edition of every month aerobics tagged “Keep-Fit-Lagos” held at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena Onikan, Lagos, has received a wide applause from the participants who lauded the initiative and thanked the Lagos State Government for creating the platform to promote physical and mental health.

“Keep-Fit-Lagos” is a programme coming at a time when the residents need to be conscious of their health status and promoting a healthy lifestyle in the communities.

The monthly aerobics initiative aimed at managing stress, contributing to effective body balance, enhances cardiovascular health among others for the purpose of achieving optimal service delivery.

Before the commencement of the aerobic sessions, participants had their vitals checked by medical professionals and providers who were on hand to conduct tests for people to know their health status.

According to the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Sports, Damilare Orimoloye expressed satisfaction with the large number of participants that graced the event.

He said the third edition is unique with the colours and arrangement of participants, adding that it is also an avenue for the residents to check their vitals in order to maintain a good health status.

“People are now seeing reasons for this programme, people are now keying and identifying with the initiative contributing to the general well-being. Not only that the numbers are increasing, but we also have our medical session taking vitals of every participant”, said Damilare.

One of the participants, Agboluaje abdullahi described keep fit Lagos as a welcome development and idea designed to keep people fit.

“If you re not here, you are missing a lot. It’s a big development from the Lagos State government”.

Abdullahi also urged the organisers to keep sustaining the tempo as a programme like Keep-Fit-Lagos promote a healthy society.

Another participant, Mojeed Nafisat, a student at Lagos State College of Health said the initiative, “Is the best that l ever attended. It was so really super and enjoyable”.

On his part, Kemen Ekerete, Fitness Expert declared that it is something of joy for him to be associated with the idea that promote physical and mental well-being of the people.

“We don’t only want Keep-Fit-Lagos to be an activity at the Onikan. We want it to be in the mind of every Lagosian knowing that on a certain Saturday of every month, we need to Keep fit”.

The pilot edition was flagged off on the 9th December, 2023, in tandem with the THEMES+ developmental agenda of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to drive inclusiveness and to contribute positively to the general well-being of the people .
