Nigeria’s leading entertainment outfit, Kennis Music, has hosted the first edition of the Kennis Music Bites, a musical cum lifestyle conference, where the leading label unveiled some of the scheduled activities of the music powerhouse in 2022 and beyond.

The auspicious event, hosted at the Lagos Marriott Hotel, Ikeja GRA, on Wednesday, July 27, had hundreds of music enthusiasts, artists, and stakeholders in attendance.

The Kennis Music Bites tagged ‘The Next Episode’, broadcast live on Kennis 104 FM, was powered by Parallex Bank.

In his opening remark at the ceremony, Keke Ogungbe, Chairman, Kennis Music Group, noted that “with the Kennis Music Bites, it is our belief that by the end of the day, participants would be able to fully harness the new and existing opportunities available in the music space and entertainment industry as a whole.”

He disclosed that Kennis Music and its affiliate brands are in a collaboration with notable institutions including Parallex Bank and The Place —a leading luxury diner— to produce an Electronic Gold Card that will serve as a multipurpose lifestyle debit card and which can be used at different places.

Also speaking at the musical conference, Mr. Femi Bakre, MD/CEO, Parallex Bank, commended the trio of Keke Ogungbe, Dayo ‘D1’ Adeneye and Idowu ‘ID’ Ogungbe —who are the forces behind the Kennis Group— for the tenacity and innovative ideas which has helped in the phenomenal growth of the entertainment industry in Nigeria.

He expressed the desire of his bank in collaboration with Kennis Music to take the entertainment industry to the next level that will ultimately create wealth and empower many talented Nigerians and the community through entertainment.

The Kennis Music Bites was divided into a music discussion and engagement segment, new brand unveiling, social gifting and payment platform that leverages music and all logic of engagement to celebrate mobile consumers.

During the main fireside session moderated by Mike Dada, CEO, AFRIMA, the quartet of Keke Ogungbe, Dayo Adeneye, Biodun Caxton-Dada and Otunba Sesai Rufai reflected on the evolution of the music industry from the analogue era of the early 1990s till the present digital era.

Another session had the trio —Debo Macaroni, Danielle Yul and Nasty Blaq— share their experiences as social media influencers.

ID Ogungbe later unveiled various activations planned to hold later in the year including the 22nd edition of the Kennis Music Festival, KinQs of Lagos Search, Music Bank platform among others.

On the Kennis Music Festival, ID Ogungbe explained that unlike the previous editions, this year will come in parts with series of concerts tagged ‘Sunset Over Lagos’, ‘Sunset Over Abuja’, ‘Sunset over Port-Harcourt’ and lastly ‘Sunset over Campuses’ holding across select Nigerian campuses.

He also revealed the idea behind the KinQs of Lagos competition which is to search for the biggest Nigerian entertainer —either musician, comedian or actor— and the winners will be determined by the fans.

The three top crowned KinQs will be rewarded with the whopping sums of N1 billion, N500 million and N250 million respectively.

ID, who is fondly referred to as ‘The Prof’, also revealed that Kennis Music is foraying into music distribution.

According to him, the music company is not going into the distribution as a competition with existing streaming companies but to add values and help distribute music for several music acts using a new found technology and means.

At the Kennis Music Bites were several dignitaries and celebrities including Chief Mrs. Mojisola Dokpesi; Chike Ogeah; MCSN boss Mayo Ayilaran; Kingsley James; Mayor Akinpelu; Praiz; Annie Idibia; Eedris Abdulkareem; Zaki Adzee; Felix Duke; May Yul-Edochie and other entertainment stakeholders.
