Lagos Chamber Of Commerce Partners COSON For Enhanced Copyright Environment In Nigeria

A delegation of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry LCCI, led by the Chamber’s Director General Dr. Chinyere Almona, was at COSON House in Ikeja, the headquarters of Copyright Society of Nigeria, the nation’s biggest copyright collective management organization, on Tuesday.

At the meeting, attended by several executive members of the Chamber and directors of COSON, the chamber noted the important place that COSON, a frontline member of the chamber, has come to occupy in the nation’s match towards economic development as Intellectual property has become a key resource of the Nigerian nation.

The LCCI DG said that it has become very important for the chamber to interact and work closely with COSON for the advancement of the nation’s intellectual property resources.

Responding, COSON Chairman, Chief Tony Okoroji, thanked the LCCI delegation for recognizing the important role that COSON is playing both as a collective management organization and a critical advocacy agent for respect and promotion of creativity in Nigeria.

He assured the LCCI delegation that COSON will work closely with the chamber for the design and promotion of appropriate policies for the growth of the creative industry in Nigeria.

The LCCI delegation which presented a plaque to COSON in appreciation of its contribution to the nation’s development also had in attendance, Mr. Ade Olufeko, Chairman, Creative and Entertainment Group, LCCI; Dr. Tony Monye, Director, Research and Advocacy, LCCI; Mr Femi Bakare, Senior Membership Relations Officer, LCCI and Mr. Francis Momoh, Assistant Manager Corporate Communications, LCCI.

Representing COSON at the meeting were, Mrs. Bernice Eriemeghie-Ashibuogwu, CEO/GM COSON; COSON Directors Richard Cole, Kenny St. Brown, Righteousman Erhabor, Koffi Idowu-Noel, Vincent Adawasi, Deputy General Manager, COSON and Mandu Uwem Umoh, Senior Communication Executive, COSON.
