The Lagos State House of Assembly has directed the State Commissioner for Local Government and Community Matters,Mr. Muslim Folami to desist from intervention in the compilation of the list of executive members for Local Government administration in the state.

The development was as a result of the mass protest by leaders of the All Progressives Congress(APC) in most Local Governments and LCDAs in the state over Governor Ambode’s alleged imposition list.

In a letter with reference no.: LSHA/FAD/0/155/82 dated 3rd November, 2017 and signed by the Clerk of the House,Mr. A.A Sanni titled: APPOINTMENT OF SUPERVISORS TO THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT COUNCILS/LOCAL COUNCIL DEVELOPMENT AREAS, tge House called the attention of the Commissioner to the law guiding such appointments.

The letter read thus:”In consonance with the provisions of the Local Government administrative guidelines 2011,which empowers the Chairman of Local Government/Council Development Areas to appoint Supervisors and Special Advisers, I am to inform you to note the clause in section 10.1(1) which states that such appointments must be ‘with confirmation of the legislative Council’.

2. Consequently, you are kindly requested to ensure compliance with the above mentioned provision before the appointed officials are sworn-in.This is also applicable to the post of Secretary to the Local Government/Council Development Areas.

3. Thank you and take note”.

The Ministry acknowledged the receipt of the letter same day.

PM EXPRESS can report that some local councils have sworn in their executives, while people who are not residing in some local governments found their names in those imposed list.
