Former sole administrator of Ikosi Ejirin LCDA, Honourable Babatunde Adetunji, who seeking the chairmanship position of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, has said his association with politics started in the early 1990s, when his father was involved in the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

Speaking in an interview with a select group of editors at his office in Ikeja, Babatunde Adetunji, an experienced accomplished and architect, has also laid out his expansive and comprehensive plan to make Ikosi-Isheri LCDA the envy of other municipalities in the country.

“My introduction to politics started a long time ago, as far back as before 1993. When my father was going about his political ambition of becoming the Deputy National Chairman of SDP in 1993, I was also involved, I went around with him on a number of occasions”.

Babatunde Adetunji’s passion for serving the people has driven his political career, which spans over three decades.

““My desire to contest for any political appointment started in 2006, when I felt I had the financial capability to contest for political office.” he explained.

“I am an open-minded person to everyone, irrespective of their religion, race or tribe.
One thing about me is the fact that I am a man, who believes in equality and equity. I don’t believe in segregation; we are one big family.”

If elected chairman of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA in the next local government elections in Lagos State, Babatunde Adetunji plans to focus on people-oriented programmes, listening to the needs of the community, and attending to their immediate concerns.

“We would ensure that we do projects all over the LCDA. I will try to do people-oriented programmes, listen to them, and attend to their immediate needs.”

In his first 100 days in office, Hon. Adetunji plans to replicate the success of a former Governor of Lagos state

“I will take a cue from former governor Ambode, who, in his first 100 days, did almost a tour of Lagos State, and developed the hinterlands” he said.

“I will replicate what he has done in Ikosi-Isheri, because I could remember during my time as a sole administrator Gov. Ambode helped in opening up roads in our community.”

Honorable Babatunde Adetunji’s concept of service is centered on transparency and accountability, stressing that, “serving others needs transparency. We will run everything in a transparent way, because serving others needs transparency.”

As he seeks the chairmanship position of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, Hon.Adetunji is confident that his antecedents and grassroots support will stand him out from other aspirants.

“I believe in my proven track record of success and that’s why God will see me through. I have been having the grassroots support and back up since 2006.”

In his appeal to the General Advisory Council (GAC) in Lagos, Hon. Babatunde Adetunji urged them to consider his candidacy based on his proven track record and commitment to serving the people.

“I believe that my past deeds and contributions to the Ikosi-Isheri LCDA will serve as a trademark for me in the upcoming election. The grassroots have been supporting me since 2006, I have not lost my connection and credibility with them; and this give me assurance that the grassroots will support my vision again”.

Dwelling more on his plans when elected chairman, Babatunde Adetunji said given the fact that Ikosi-Isheri is the destination hub for food market in Lagos State that he will harness the potentials and open up the roads in the area for easier accessibility for traders, motorists and locals

“I will ensure that I improve the business environment for all concerned, for smoother connection and movement. We have to upgrade the markets, in such a way that it is all inclusive and integrates the concerns and different classes in the community “, said Adetunji.
