Lagos Monarch Attacked By Land Grabbers

Two suspected land grabbers, Yinusa, 42 and Abiodun Emmanuel 28 have been arrested and charged before Magistrate’s court sitting in Ejigbo for allegedly assaulting their traditional ruler, Bale of Ibaragon kingdom, Chief Adisa Bankole Akinlabi in Lagos.
The suspects reportedly attacked Akinlabi at his farm land in Jafofo Village in Abule Oki in Iyana Ipaja, Lagos.
According to the victim, he went to their family land for routine inspection at Igbo Medu area of Iyana Ipaja and met the suspects there who have already seized some portion of the land.
He said while he was asking them how they acquired the land from the family without his consent as the head, he was brutally attacked with cutlass and his traditional walking stick -symbol of Authority- as Baale of Ibaragun was seized and taken away.
Baale Akinlabi was seriously injured and taken to a hospital where he was treated.
Following the attack, the matter was reported to the police at Area M Command in Idimu who investigated the matter and arrested the suspects.

Their other accomplice escaped and are now at large.
The suspects were charged before Ejigbo Magistrate’s court with conspiracy and assault under the Criminal Code.
They pleaded not guilty.
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs J.O.E Adeyemi granted them bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.
They were remanded in prison custody pending when they will perfect their bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 14 November 2014.
