The children of famous Nigerian journalist and lawyer, late Chief Horatio Nelson Agedah are headed to court in their battle over the late father’s estate.

The accused was ordered arrested by the DPO in charge of Ikoyi division, Lagos, SP Tijani Mustapha following a complaint by Timothy Agedah and after investigation by Supol Surakat Taofik and his team the accused was arraigned before an Igbosere Magistrate’s court on a three count charge of felony to wit: stealing.

Police prosecutor, Inspector Jimoh Joseph, informed the court in charge No. A/12/2017 that the accused committed the offence with others still at large between 2007 and 2009 at Ikoyi, Lagos.

Joseph told the court that Timothy Agedah reported to the police that his late father, Chief Horatio Nelson Agedah, left the sum of N46 million in his account for the upkeep of the entire family but that their eldest sister Joan Oke, connived with outsiders, to withdraw the money and converted to their use.

He said Timothy further stated that since their sister stole the money, the entire Agedah family, including the deceased wife, has been suffering.

Joseph said the offences the accused committed are punishable under sections 411, 314(2) and 287(9) (b) of the criminal laws of Lagos State 2015.

Joan Oke, however, denied police allegations in the open court when the charges were read to her and chief magistrate Mrs. O. O. Oshin admitted her on bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Oshin adjourned the case till 14 April, 2017 for mention while the defendant was taken to Kirikiri Prisons, Apapa, Lagos pending when she will be able to fulfill her bail conditions.
