Two giant transport companies, Libra and Good Is Good Motors are presently in a supremacy war over who will control passengers at Asaba terminal in Delta State.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the battle took another dimension following the latest move by Libra Motors to build a terminal beside the God is Good terminal along Asaba-Ontisha expressway.

It was gathered that Libra Motors bought the land beside God is Good for a whopping sum of N150m from a business mogul, Chief Peter Okonkwo of the Pokobros Group of companies based in Onitsha, Anambra State.

Libra has also started building the terminal there and further reduced the transport fares at their temporary terminal opposite God Is Good Motors at Asaba to achieve its vision.

This was  confirmed by both managers of the companies who agreed that it was a fierce competition by the companies.

P.M.EXPRESS findings revealed that while God Is Good collects N5500 from each passenger going from Asaba to Lagos, the Libra have reduced the fare to N4000, a different of N1500.

The latest reduction has been seen by God is Good Motors as a ploy by Libra Motors to snatch its passengers which might be a serious set back to the company.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that God Is Good motors had dominated passengers in Asaba where they built a high standard terminal. Passengers from towns in Anambra also prefer to go to the terminal to board their buses to travel.

But it seems the domination and influence will be whittled down with the moves by Libra Motors recently.

However, God Is Good motors manager who spoke to P.M.EXPRESS said they were ready to face the challenge from Libra motors even to load passengers for free if the need arises.

The manager who did not want his name to be mentioned said despite the competition, both companies do not offer the same service as that of God is Good was of very high standard.

Some passengers who reacted on the competition, said it was a welcome development in the interest of the passengers.

One of the passengers, Mr Jude Okechukwu said transport companies have been exploiting passengers by fixing their fares without any challenge from anywhere. He said since the competition between the two companies started, it has created opportunity for passengers to make choices on the fares they pay.

Another passenger, Mr Frank Chigboo said the competition should continue and encouraged more other transport companies such as GUO, Young Shall Grow, Ekene Dili Chukwu, Peace and others to join so that the fares will crash more.
