Man, 19, Docked For Stealing Neighbour’s Pot Of Soup

A 19-year old tailor, Adua Fatogun, has been arrested and charged for allegedly burgling his neighbour’s apartment and stealing a pot of soup and other items worth N311,100 in Ondo State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Ifeleye Street, Ayeyemi, Ondo town.
According to the Police, the suspect, Fatogun, was alleged to have broken into the apartment, stole the properties of Felix Ogunbolade, Adeqoga Abiodun and Akinsete Adurayemi before he tried to escape.
However, while he was escaping, the was caught and handed over to the Police and was detained for interrogation over his alleged conduct.
After interrogation, the Police found him culpable for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.
However, when he was arraigned, Fatogun pleaded not guilty to the four-count charge bothering on burglary and theft under the Criminal law of the State.
The prosecutor, Bernard Olagbayi, told the Court that the alleged offences contravened Section 383 and were punishable under Section 412(1), 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Volume 1 Laws of Ondo State.
The prosecutor urged the Court to adjourn the case to enable him to prepare witnesses for his trial in order to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, O. A. Omofolarin, ordered him to be remanded in prison custody without an option of bail and adjourned the matter till 19th February, 2024, for trial.
