Man, 22, Docked For Defiling Neighbour’s Daughter, 13

A 22-year-old man, Success Eze, has been arrested and charged in Ekiti State for allegedly defiling his neighbour’s 13-year old daughter.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 5th March, 2026, at Ogotun-Ekiti area of the State, where they reside.
According to the Police, the victim returned home from her mother’s shop to get something and met the suspect in the house. In the process, he entered the victim mother’s room, covered her mouth and defiled her.
The matter was reported to the Police in the area. The suspect was arrested and detained at the station for interrogation.
After thorough interrogation, he was found culpable and charged before the Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The prosecutor, Inspector Ayodeji Aina, told the Court that the defendant committed the offence when the victim’s parents were not around. And the alleged offence contravenes Section 31 of the Child Right Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
However, the Court did not take his plea.
The prosecutor urged the court to remand the defendant at correctional centre pending legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. Olatomiwa Daramola, subsequently ordered the remand of the defendant at a correctional facility pending the issuance of legal advice.
The matter was adjourned till 13th April, 2026, for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
