A 24-year old man, Olayinka Keshinro, has been arrested in Lagos State for allegedly sneaking into his neighbour’s room and stealing the pot containing soup before he was caught in the act.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Bode Owolabi Street, Isheri Oshun area of Lagos, where they reside.
The suspect, Keshinro, landed in trouble after the owner, Kehinde Obalaye, was said to have lost his pot of soup severally and had been wondering who was coming to his house to steal same.
He was said to have set a trap and eventually caught Keshinro with his pot. He then asked him to know where he got his pot but he was unable to explain.
He then concluded that it was the suspect, Keshinro, that had been going to his house to steal and reported to the Police at Isheri Oshun Division.
The suspect was arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over his conduct. And during interrogation, it was discovered that he actually stole the pot from the complainant’s place but there was no evidence to prosecute him over the soup.
Keshinro was however, found culpable for stealing the pot and was charged before the Isolo Magistrates Court for stealing.
He pleaded not guilty when he was arraigned.
The prosecutor, Inspector Solomon, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. I.O. Williams, granted him bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.
He was remanded in custody at the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions while the matter was adjourned for mention.
