A 28-year old man, Christian Ugoya, has landed in trouble in Lagos after he allegedly lured a 16-year old girl, engaged her in sex and he was caught.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Yeside Street, Aguda area of Sururele, Lagos, where they reside.

The police alleged the embattled suspect, Ugoya, lured the girl into his apartment, used words of mouth to convince her and engaged her in the romp.

However, the act leaked to the parents of the girl and she eventually revealed what happened. That prompted her parents to report to the Police in the area that the suspect defiled their daughter.

Ugoya was arrested and later transferred to the Gender Section of the Police Command for interrogation. And in the course of interrogation, he reportedly admitted he slept with the girl but with her consent.

The Police however, found him culpable because the girl is still a minor and subsequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.

The Court did not take his plea and denied his bail as well after the prosecutor, DSP Kehinde Ajayi, asked the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. A. Ajibade, ordered his remand in custody pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP while she adjourned the matter till 6th October, 2021, for mention.

P. M. EXPRESS gathered that the matter may likely be transferred to the High Court if the DPP’s report finds him culpable and recommends his trial for the alleged offence over jurisdiction.

There ought to be public enlightenment that a child, that is, below 18 years cannot consent to sexual intercourse! Aah, the defendant said she consented! Ignorance is no excuse, he will pay for his crime.
