Man, 29, Arrested For Stealing Cigarettes At Jendol Super Store

A 29-year old man, Lawal Olawale, has landed in trouble for allegedly stealing pack of cigarettes inside Jendol Super Store in Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Olawale, has been arrested and charged before Court for stealing over his alleged conduct.
The incident happened at the Jendol Super Store located at Orelope, Idimu area of the state.
According to the Police, the suspect went to the place, pretended to have gone there to buy some items, stole the pack of the cigarettes and hid it in his pocket.
However, he was unlucky as the security men saw him when he stole it. They kept watch on him until he wanted to escape and he was held. They searched and recovered the item as exhibit.
The matter was reported to the Police at Idimu Division. The suspect was arrested and detained at the station for interrogation and he confessed because there was overwhelming evidence against him.
Having been found culpable, the Police charged him before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.
The charge read:
“That you, Lawal Olawale ‘M’, on the 20th day of March 2025 at about 1950hours at Jendol Super Mall located at Orelope Idimu in the Lagos Magisterial district, did steal four packs of Backwood Russian Cigarette Value N95,000.00 Ninety Five Thousand Naira property of Jendol Super Store and there by committed an offence under Section 287 of the Criminal laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”
He pleaded guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Benedict Aigbokhan, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing for him to present the facts of the matter so that the Court will sentence him accordingly to serve as deterrent to others who might commit such crime in future.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.K. Dosumu-Uthman, ordered his remand in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when the prosecutor will present the facts and he will be sentenced accordingly.
The matter was adjourned till 22nd April, 2025, for the facts and sentence.
