Man, 29, Arrested Over R*pe Of 16-Year Old Girl Armed With Knife 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Jakande Estate, Ejigbo area of Lagos, where they reside.

According to the Police, the suspect, David, lured the victim to the estate’s security room, brought out a knife, threatened to kill her if she resisted and then forced her to remove her pants before he penetrated her.

Having satisfied himself, he allowed her to go but warned her not to tell anyone about what happened. But the victim was unable to bear the trauma and she reported to her parents what David did to her.

The matter was reported to the Police at the Gender Section of the Lagos State Police Command; David was arrested and detained for interrogation over the alleged conduct.

After thorough interrogation, the Police found him culpable and subsequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for statutory rape, which attracts several years of imprisonment if he is tried and found guilty.

However, when he was arraigned, the Court did not take his plea following a motion moved by the prosecutor, DSP Kehinde Ajayi, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. E. Kubeinje, ordered his remand in custody pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.

The matter was adjourned till 28th February, 2023, for mention for the DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
