Man, 32, Arraigned For Allegedly Stealing Company’s N13m

A 32-year old man, Kelvin Dom Emmanuel, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly stealing the sum of N13m belonging to a company, Day to Day Delight Limited, owned by Olukayode Ojo. 
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Atlantic Layout Estate, Lekki/Epe Expressway, Lagos, where the company is located.
According to the Police, the suspect had access to the money and stole it without the consent of the management, which later discovered that the money was missing through the conduct of an internal audit.
The matter was reported to the Commissioner of Police Special Squad at the State Command, Ikeja. The operatives moved into action, eventually arrested and detained the suspect at the Command for interrogation over the missing money.
After interrogation,  the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The charge read:
“That you, Kelvin Doh Emmanuel ‘m’ sometime in December 2023, between 0800-1830hours at B8 Atlantic Layout Estate, Lekki/Epe Expressway, Lagos State, in Lagos Magisterial District, did steal the sum of Thirteen Million Six Hundred and Twenty Four Thousand Seven Hundred and Seventy Naira (N13,624,770,00 property of one Olukayode Ojo ‘m’ on behalf of Management of Day to Day Delight Limited and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 280 (1)(a)(b) and punishable under Section 287 (7) of the criminal law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
He pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Akinleye Funmilola, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.O. Hughes, granted him bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
