A 34-year old man, Emmanuel Wisdom, has been arrested and charged for allegedly abducting and defiling his neighbour’s 13-year old daughter.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 30th April, 2023, at Kusa Street, Bariga area of Lagos, where they reside.
The Police alleged that the suspect abducted the victim from her parents custody, took her to his office and engaged her in sex. The information leaked and the victim revealed what happened.
The matter was reported to the Police at Bariga Division. The suspect, Wisdom, was arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over his alleged conduct. While being interrogated, he reportedly admitted to have slept with the neighbour’s daughter but with her consent and did not abduct her as her parents had claimed.
However, the Police found him culpable because the victim is still a minor and subsequently charged him before the Yaba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.
The Court did not take his plea when he was arranged following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Supol Thomas Nurudeen, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. P.E. Nwaka, ordered his remand in custody at the Correctional Centre pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.
The matter was adjourned till 19th June, 2023, for the report of the DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
