A 34-year old man, Chibuzor Ndukwe, has been arrested in Lagos State for allegedly engaging their neighbour’s 12-year old daughter in sex.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Sam Adeniyi Street, off Pipeline, Fagba area of Lagos, where they reside.
The Police alleged that the suspect, Ndukwe, lured the girl to his apartment and engaged her in the romp before he was caught by their neighbour, who raised alarm and exposed him.
The girl’s parents reported the matter to the Police and the suspect was arrested and then transferred to the Gender Section of the Lagos State Police Command for interrogation over his conduct.
While being interrogated, he reportedly admitted that he slept with the girl but with her consent and as such, he did not defile her as claimed by the Police.
However, the Police found him culpable because the victim is still a minor and subsequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence.
The Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned after the prosecutor, Inspector Lucky Ihiehie, moved a motion asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.A. Layinka, ordered his remand in custody pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.
The matter was adjourned till 16th May, 2023, for the report of the DPP to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
