Man, 35, Arrested Over Alleged Defilement Of 3 Daughters

A 35-year old man, Afolabi Femi, has been arrested in Lagos State for allegedly defiling his three biological daughters by sexually penetrating their private parts with fingers. 
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Akoronfayo Street off Fadeyi Road, Onipanu, Lagos, where they reside.
The victims, within the ages of 9, 8 and 5 years, were severally molested by their father by tempering with their private parts whenever their mother was not around and warned them not to tell her or anyone about what he was doing to them.
However, when they were unable to bear it any longer, they told their mom everything and she confronted her husband over the allegations by their children but he seriously assaulted and injured her in the process.
The matter was reported to the Police at Ilupeju Division. He was arrested and detained at the Police Station for interrogation over the alleged offence.
During interrogation, he was said to have initially denied but when his children confronted him before the Police, he became speechless and could not deny any longer.
The Police found him culpable and subsequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment or life imprisonment if he is found guilty by the Court.
When he was arraigned, the Court did not take his plea following a motion moved by the prosecutor, DSP Kehinde Ajayi, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice since the alleged offence was a capital offence with maximum punishment.
 The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. E. Kubenije, ordered his remand in custody pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP.
The matter was adjourned till 7th March, 2023, for report of the DPP’s advice to be ready, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
