Man, 36, Arraigned For Burgling School, Carting Away Food Stuff & Other Items

A 36-year-old man, Ayoola Ayomide, has landed in trouble in Lagos State for allegedly burgling a school, Purple Diamond Primary and Secondary School, through the ceiling and carting away food stuff and other items.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that he was later arrested and then charged for his alleged conduct under the Criminal Law of the State.
The incident happened on 12th January, 2026, at Mike Close, Alakuko area of Lagos, where the school is located.
According to the Police, the suspect went to the school, climbed through the ceiling, used a hammer to destroy the entrance door and stole the items before he escaped.
The matter was reported to the Police at Alakuko Division. The Police operatives moved into action, eventually arrested and detained the suspect at the station for interrogation over his alleged conduct.
After thorough interrogation, the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.
The charges read:
COUNT 1: “That you, AYOOLA AYOMIDE “M’ on 12th January, 2026, at about 0630hrs at No. 1, Mike Close, Alakuko Lagos, in the Ikeja Magisterial District, did burgle Purple Diamond Primary and Secondary School through the ceiling of the building and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 306 (2) and punishable under Section 307 (a) (b) (c) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
COUNT II: “That you, AYOOLA AYOMIDE ‘M’ on the same date, place and time in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did willfully and maliciously damage the burglary window and ceiling of Purple Diamond Primary and Secondary School by using a hammer to destroy it, which is valued at sixty thousand Naira (N60,000) property of one OLUWAFEMI DAVID ‘M’ and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 350 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
COUNT III:”That you, AYOOLA AYOMIDE ‘M’ on the same date, place and time in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did unlawfully enter through the ceiling into Purple Diamond Primary and Secondary with intent to commit felony to wit stealing and thereby committed an offence contrary and punishable under Section 309 (1) (2) of the Criminal Laws of Logos St of Nigeria 2015.”
COUNT IV:”That you, AYOOLA AYOMIDE ‘M’ on the same date, place in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did steal the following, one 6kg gas cylinder valued thirty thousand Naira (N30,000), cables valued one hundred and fifty six (N156,000), rice valued twelve thousand Naira (N12,000), one 3kg of Garri valued N2000 and two microphones valued ten thousand Naira (N10,000) each, totally N220,000) property of one OLUWAFEMI IVID ‘M’ and thereby committed and offence contrary to Section 280 and lable under Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”
However, he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Supol Josephine Ihkayere, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. L.A. Owolabi, granted him bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
