Police operatives from the Isheri Oshun Division of the Lagos State Command have finally arrested a 37-year old man, Akorede Adeoye, who allegedly sold a Pontiac Vibe car entrusted him to sell by the owner,  Babatunde Oluwa, and bolted away with N6m.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Apapa after the owner,  Oluwa, cleared the vehicle and gave it to Adeoye to sell in July, 2023, at an agreed amount.
However, Adeoye was said to have disappeared with the vehicle, sold it and bolted away with the money without remitting any amount to the owner.  He was also alleged to have disconnected every communication between him and the owner.
The matter was reported to the Police. The operatives moved into action, trailed the suspect, eventually arrested and detained him at the station for interrogation over his alleged conduct.
After rounds of interrogation, the Police found him culpable and then charged him before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for the alleged conduct likely to cause breach of public peace and stealing, which attracts several years of imprisonment.
However, he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor,  Inspector Simeon Njue, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.K. Dosumu-Uthman, granted him bail in the sum of N1m with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
