Man, 38, Docked For Forcefully Engaging Biological Daughter, 17, In Sex

A 38-year old man, Waisu Akinteye, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly engaging his 17-year old biological daughter in sex. 

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Oladunni Asake Olatunde Close, Meiran area of Lagos, where they reside.

 

According to the Police, the man started abusing the daughter when she was 12 and continued till July, 2024, when the victim’s mother caught them and handed him over to the Police at Merian Division.

 

After his arrest, he was transferred to the Gender Section of the Police Command for interrogation over his alleged conduct. After interrogation at the Gender Section, the Police found him culpable and he was charged before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which attracts life imprisonment.

 

The charges read:

“That you, Wasiu Akinteye ‘m’ sometime in the year 2019 and  in July 2024 at Oladunni Asake Olatunde Close, Meriam,  Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did defile your daughter, 17years by having forceful carnal knowledge of her and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 137 of the Criminal laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”

 

COUNT II:”That you, Wasiu Akinteye ‘m’, on the same date, time and in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did commit incest by having forceful carnal knowledge of your daughter and thereby committed an punishable under Section 28 of Lagos State Domestic & Violence Law, 2021.”

 

The Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice.

 

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. Of. Kusanu, ordered his remand in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for legal advice.

 

The matter was adjourned for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be ready, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
