Man, 38, Docked For Stealing Haulage Company’s Goods Worth N21m

A 38-year old man, Ibrahim Opeyemi, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly stealing goods belonging to a haulage company worth N21m. 

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 20th January, 2025, at Fafem Haulage Nig Limited, Abule Egba.

 

According to the Police, the suspect and others conspired and stole the items at night. The management resumed for work in the morning and discovered that the items were missing. The suspect was summoned and he was unable to explain what happened.

 

Thus, the matter was reported to the Police at Area G Command, Ogba and he was arrested and detained at the Command for interrogation over the missing items.

 

After interrogation, the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence under the Criminal Laws of the State.

 

The charges read:

COUNT I: “That you, Ibrahim Opeyemi and others now at large sometime on the 20th Day of January 2025, at about 1200hrs, somewhere at Fafem Haulage Nig Ltd, Abule Egba, Lagos in Ikeja Magisterial District, did conspire among yourselves to commit felony to wit stealing and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 411 of the criminal law, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”

 

COUNT II:”That you, Ibrahim Opeyemi and others now at large, on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned magisterial district, did steal 300 bags of SUPERFINE WHEAT FLOUR valued 21,000,000 (Twenty One Million Naira) property of Fafem Haulage Nig Ltd and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 280 and punishable under Section 287 of the criminal law, laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”

 

However, he pleaded not guilty.

 

The prosecutor, Inspector Lucky Ihiehie, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.

 

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. M.O. Tanimola, granted him bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

 

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
