Man, 40, Arraigned For Stealing Jewelries & Foreign Currency Worth N10m

A 40-year old man, Elijah Agbeniyi, has landed in trouble in Lagos State for allegedly stealing jewelries, foreign currency and other items worth N10m belonging to Oladayo Oyetayo. 
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect,  Agbeniyi, has been arrested and charged for the alleged stealing.
The incident happened between 2023 and 28th of June, 2025, at Bola Mofe Street, Isheri GRA, Lagos.
According to the Police, the suspect went to the complainant’s room, stole the items from where he kept them, went away and since then was at large. The matter was reported to the Police at Isheri Division. The Police operatives later trailed, arrested and detained him at the station for interrogation over his alleged conduct.
The Police found him culpable after interrogation and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The charge read:
“That you, Elijah Agbeniyi ‘M’ sometime between 2023 and 28th of June, 2025, at about 16:48hrs at No 18, Bola Mofe Street, Isheri GRA, Lagos State, in the Ikeja Magisterial District, did steal Android phone valued at N100,000.00, cash of N100,000.00, 800 Euros valued N1,200,000.00, 2 gold rings and 2 bracelets valued N6 million, belt valued N500,000.00, cap valued N80,000.00, necklace valued N3 million, all items valued N10,980,000.00 00.00 property of one Oladayo Oyetayo and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 287 of the criminal law of Lagos State 2015.”
However, he pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor, Supol Josephine Ihkayere, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. L.A. Owolabi, granted him bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned till 11th September, 2025, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
