A 40-year old man, Mohammed Umar, has landed in trouble for allegedly defiling a 12-year old girl after enticing her with N1000 to pay her debt to her step-mother in Adamawa State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that Police operatives from the State Command have arrested the father of 20 children, Umar and he confessed but insisted that it was done with the girl’s consent.
The incident reportedly happened at Gusupan in the Toungo LGA of Adamawa State.
The victim implicated the suspect by revealing that Umar allegedly threatened to kill her if she disclosed to anyone that he slept with her.
During the interrogation, the suspect, Umar, confessed to the Police that he was unable to resist the temptation after he gave her the money and had to arrange to have sex with her, which she agreed to.
This was confirmed by the Police spokesperson for the Adamawa State Police Command, SP Suleiman Nguroje, who said that the suspect was in Police custody undergoing interrogation over his alleged conduct.
He narrated, “She met me in my shop and said that she wanted to buy sugar. While we were interacting, she requested for the sum of N2000 to refund to her step-mother. I dashed her N1000, then she agreed to offer her body to me. After we finished the arrangement, she voluntarily went to where we agreed to meet. I joined her immediately and we had sex”.
However, the Police found him culpable because the victim is still a minor and Umar risks several years of imprisonment for the alleged offence.
The Police image maker stated that the suspect will be charged before the Court for the alleged offence after the conclusion of investigations by the Police.
