Man, 40, Docked For Diverting 600 Bags Of Sugar Worth N44m Loaded Inside Truck

A 40-year old man, Ismaila Ademola, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly diverting 600 bags of sugar worth N44m loaded inside a truck belonging to GPC Energy and Logistics Limited. 
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened between 18th and 20th day of April, 2025, at GPC Energy and Logistics Limited located at 4B, Regina Coker Street, off Kofoworola, Ikeja, Lagos.
According to the Police, the suspect and others now at large conspired and had been stealing the items until the company later discovered and handed him over to the Police at MAN Centre Division for interrogation and prosecution.
After interrogation, the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The charges read:
“That you, MUSA ISMAILA ADEMOLA ‘m’ and other at large between 18th and 20th day of April 2025, at GPC Energy and Logistics Limited located at 4B, Regina Coker Street, off Kofoworola, Ikeja Lagos, in the Ikeja Magisterial District, did conspire among yourselves to commit felony to wit Stealing and thereby committed an offence contrary and punishable under Section 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”
COUNT II:”That you, MUSA ISMAILA ADEMOLA ‘m’ and other at large on the same date and place in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did dishonestly deal with 600 bags of 50kg bags of Sugar valued at N44,093,023:26k (Forty-Four Million, Ninety-Three Thousand, Twenty-Three Naira and Twenty-Six kobo) which were loaded in with a Truck G800 with Reg. No MEK 530 XB, which at the point of delivery and offloading weighed 49kg each, property of GPC Energy and Logistics and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 280 (2)(e) and punishable under Section 287 (7) of the criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.”
COUNT III:”That you, MUSA ISMAILA ADEMOLA ‘m’ and other at large the same date and place in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did steal 450 liters of Diesel valued N540,000:00k (Five Hundred and Forty Thousand Naira Only, property of GPC Energy and Logistics and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 280 and punishable under Section 287 (7) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.”
However, he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor,  Supol Josephine Ihkayere, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. L.A.Owolabi, granted him bail in the sum of N700,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions. .
