Man, 47, Knocks Pregnant Wife To De*th During Public Fight

A 47-year-old man, Olabode Oluwaseun, has displayed his boxing prowess on his pregnant wife, Blessing and she subsequently died with their unborn baby in a public fight.

P M.EXPRESS reports that the man, Olabode, was alleged to have committed the crime on April 3, 2020 at No. 56, Oke-Agba area of Akure, Ondo State capital, where they reside.

Following the dastardly act, the Police from Ondo State Command have arrested Olabode and charged him before an Akure Magistrate Court for murder for allegedly beating his pregnant wife to death.

He was arraigned on a one-count charge of allegedly hitting his wife, Blessing, in the abdomen, which was said to have resulted into her death with her unborn child. The offence attracts several years of imprisonment or life imprisonment if he is tried and found guilty for the alleged offence.

According to the Prosecutor, Inspector Uloh Goodluck, the offence was punishable under Section 319 (1) of the Criminal Code Cap 36 Volume 1 Laws of Ondo State.
Uloh, who urged the Court to remand Olabode in Police custody pending legal advice from the Department of Public Prosecution, emphasized that the crime was a case of murder.

Meanwhile, Counsel to Olabode, Ololike, did not oppose application for a remand order.
The Presiding Magistrate, Aladejana, subsequently ordered that Olabode be remanded in custody pending the outcome of the legal advice from the DPP following the adjournment of the case to September 8, 2020.
