Man, 48, Docked For Stabbing Wife To Death During Squabble

A 48-year old man, Peter Dike, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly killing his wife,  Uchechi Dike, by stabbing her severally and she bled to death. 

 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 19th March, 2025, at Prestige Estate, Ilogbo, Eremi in Oko Afo area of Lagos, where they reside.

 

According to the Police, the suspect had a disagreement with the wife, which led to exchange of words. And in the process,  he stabbed her multiple times on her neck.

 

She was said to have bled profusely and was rushed to an undisclosed hospital, where she was confirmed dead by the Doctor. Her corpse was deposited at the mortuary for autopsy reports.

 

The matter was reported to the Police in the area. The suspect was arrested and transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba, for further investigation.

 

After rounds of interrogation, the Police found him culpable and consequently charged him before the Ebute Metta Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment or life imprisonment.

 

The charge read:

“That you, PETER DIKE ‘M’, on the 19th day of March, 2025 at about 0800hrs at No. 7, Prestige Estate llogbo, Eremi Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did unlawfully kill one UCHECHI DIKE ‘F’, by stabbing her multiple times on the neck and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 223 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”

 

The Court did not take his plea following a motion moved by the Prosecutor, Supol Olatunde Kehinde, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice.

 

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. F.M.Kayode-Alamu, ordered his remand in custody at the correctional center pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for legal advice.

 

The matter was adjourned for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be ready, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
