A 52-year old man, James Chukwunonye, who allegedly engaged his neighbour’s 20-year old down syndrome patient in a sex romp, has justified his action by telling the Police that nothing was wrong with her private part and that the victim is an adult.

However, the Police ignored his reason and arrested him.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Ishaga area of Isolo, Lagos, where the suspect resides with victim’s parents.
According to Police sources, the suspect, Chukwunonye, sneaked into the victim’s apartment when her parents had gone to work and left her alone in the house.
The dastardly act was said to have been going on for a while whenever the victim’s parents had gone to work. Each time they come back, they will discover that her private part had been tempered with.
To identify the suspect was difficult because the victim was unable to identify who was behind the act because of her condition. Her parents then set a trap, caught the suspect in the act and handed over to the Police in the area.
He was later transferred to the Gender Section of the Command for interrogation over the conduct. After thorough interrogation, he was found culpable and the Police subsequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for the alleged offence.
The Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Supol Akeem Raji, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. B.O. Osunssanmi, ordered his remand in the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when the DPP’s report will be ready and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to DPP for advice.
The matter was adjourned till when the DPP’s report will be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
