A 58-year old man, Michael Enebeli, has landed in trouble in Lagos State after he allegedly lured and defiled his neighbour’s 17-year daughter.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Enebeli, has been arrested and charged for the alleged defilement under the Criminal law of the State.

The incident happened at Agbole Layout, Oyisa in Egan area of Igando, Lagos, where they reside.

The Police alleged that the suspect had caused the victim an emotional injury and sexual abuse between 2023 and 2024 after he lured the victim, confused her with words of mouth while touching her breasts and she then fell into his trap as he defiled in the process.

The victim was said to have realized herself and informed her parents, who then reported the matter to the Police at the Family Support Unit, Igando, for interrogation over the alleged conduct.

During interrogation, the suspect admitted to have slept with her but with her consent and as such did not force her into the act. But the Police found him culpable for the alleged offence because the victim is still a minor under the law. Consequently, he was charged before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.

The Court did not take his plea when he was arraigned following a motion moved by the prosecutor, Inspector John Iberedem, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice because of the nature of the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. E. Kubenije, ordered his remand in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP.

The matter was adjourned till 9th July, 2024, for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice to be available, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
