Man, 80, Docked Over S*x With Girl, 8

An 80-year old man, Oyewole Ebenezer Olaiya, has been arrested and charged before the Court for allegedly engaging a 5-year old girl in sex.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Aranse Olu Street in Orile, Agege, Lagos where Olaiya resides with the little girl’s parents.

The Octogenarian reportedly lured the girl into his apartment, removed her pant and forcefully penetrated her private part.
Having satisfied himself, he allowed the girl to go but warned her not to tell anybody what he did by instilling fear into her.

The little girl was later persuaded to open up; she revealed to her parents what happened and how Pa Olaiya defiled her by penetrating her private part.

The matter was reported to the Police in the area and he was arrested. Pa Plays was later transferred to the Gender Section of the Command in Ikeja for interrogation and he admitted to have molested the girl.
He was subsequently charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for defilement which attracts life imprisonment if he is tried and found guilty.
However, the Court did not take his plea following the motion by the Prosecutor, Supol Bisi Ogunleye, that the matter should be referred to the DPP for advice.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. E. Kubenje, ordered for his remand in custody without an option of bail and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP for advice.
The matter was adjourned till 15th September, 2020, for report of the DPP’s advice to be available while the trial may be transferred to the High Court if the DPP finds Pa Olaiya culpable and recommends his trial for defilement.
