Man Killed In Fatal Road Traffic Crash Along Onitsha-Awka Old Road

At about 1500hrs yesterday Monday 14 September, 2020, a fatal Road Traffic Crash (RTC) involving a yellow 911 M/Benz water tanker with registration number XB 698 GDD and a yellow TVS tricycle without a registration number was recorded opposite Jodon Shopping Mall Nkpor, along Onitsha- Awka Old Road.

According to eyewitnesses, the crash occurred as a result excessive speeding and wrongful overtaking. It also involved a total of five (5) people (4) male adults, (1)female adult. (3) male adults and (1) female adult who sustained varying degrees of injury were taken to St. Charles Boromeo Hospital, Onitsha, by FRSC rescue team from Nteje Unit Command and the dead victim deposited at the morgue after he was confirmed dead by the Doctors in the hospital.

The road obstruction has been cleared to ensure free flow of traffic. 


The Sector Commander Federal Road Safety Corps Anambra State, CC Andrew A. Kumapayi, has sent his condolences to the deceased family and wished the injured victims quick recovery. 


More so, he warned motorists to desist from over speeding and wrongful overtaking while on the highways. He said over taking should be done only when it is safe and absolutely necessary to do so as road traffic crashes are avoidable.
