Man Sent To Prison Over Attack On Another Man For Snatching Wife With 2 Kids

A 36-year old man, Obinna Ugwuoke, has landed in trouble in Lagos State for allegedly attacking and destroying the property of a man, Maduabuchi Nwabueze, for snatching his wife and collecting his children from his estranged wife.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 28th July, 2023, at Sherifatu Close, Shasha area of Lagos, where the alleged wife snatcher, Nwabueze resides with Ugwuoke’s estranged wife.
He has been arrested and charged for conduct likely to cause breach of public peace and wilfully damaging Nwabuze’s property.
According to Ugwuoke, he hails from Nsukka town and got married to his wife, who is from Ngwo all in Enugu State, brought her to Lagos and they had two children.
However, trouble started in their marriage when he noticed his wife’s  secret affairs with Nwabueze, who is from Mbaise in Imo State and he warned both his wife and Nwabueze as they were living almost in the same neighborhood in Shasha area of Lagos.
He said he was surprised when he returned from work and discovered that his wife has moved out from his house to an undisclosed place with his children. He then made inquiries and later discovered that she had moved into Nwabueze’s house as his new wife with their two children.
According to Ugwuoke, when he got information that his wife was living with Nwabueze, he went to his house and met his wife and Nwabueze sitting together as couple and he vented his anger by attacking them before they escaped.
He then destroyed properties inside Nwabueze’s apartment including television, home theater music equipment, DVD glass wall divider and other items worth N413,000 and escaped.
The matter was reported to the Police at Shasha Division. Ugwuoke was arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over his alleged conduct.
During interrogation, he reportedly admitted to have done so when he met Nwabueze with his own wife in Nwabueze’s house. And in anger, he damaged those properties and would have killed both of them if they did not escape.
The DPO, CSP Olutoyin Omomobi, insisted that he was culpable for committing a criminal offence and consequently charged him before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court.
He pleaded not guilty when he was arraigned.
The prosecutor, Supol Benedict Aigbokhan, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.K. Dosumu, granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment.
The matter was adjourned till 4th September, 2023, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
