A 28-year old staff of Solution Microfinance Bank, Shaibu Faridat, has landed in trouble in Lagos State for allegedly granting herself a loan of N2.952m without the consent of the management.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that Faridat has been arrested and charged for stealing over her alleged conduct in the company.

The incident happened at the company’s branch located at Ogunlana Street, Idimu area of Lagos, where she was employed as a staff.

According to the Police, she was said to have collected the money, used it to start a clothing business with the hope that she would sell the clothes and return the money to the company’s account.

However,  she was yet to sell the clothes she used the money to buy before the management conducted an internal audit. It was discovered that the money was missing and she was asked about it. She opened up that she used the money to buy clothes, which she wanted to sell and return the money to the company’s account.

The management then handed her over to the Police at Idimu Division for prosecution for the alleged stealing.

She pleaded not guilty when she was arraigned.

The prosecutor, Inspector Simeon Njue, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since she pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that she actually committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A. K. Dosumu-Uthman, granted her bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

The matter was adjourned till 17th August, 2024, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when she will perfect her bail conditions.
